The resistance of the spot welder depends on its resistivity when the workpiece and electrode are affirmed. Therefore, the resistivity is the tension property of the welded material. The metal with high resistivity (such as stainless steel) has a good electrical conductivity (such as aluminum alloy) with low electrical conductivity (such as stainless steel). Therefore, when welding stainless steel is easy to produce heat but not easy to heat. Spot welding, spot welding stainless steel can be small current (thousands of Amperes), then the latter must use a large current (Ji Wananpei). Resistivity depends not only on the type of metal, but also on the penalty state, processing method and temperature of the metal.
In order to guarantee the nugget size and the strength of solder joints, the welding time and the welding current can be mutually supplemented in the affirmative category. In order to obtain the positive strength of the solder joints, large current and short time (strong conditions, also known as hard examples) can be accepted, and small current and permanent (weak conditions, also called soft examples) can be accepted. Choosing a hard example or a soft example depends on the performance and thickness of the metal and the power of the welder. There is an upper and lower limit for the current and time required for the metal with different performance and thickness.
The electrode pressure has an obvious effect on the total resistance R between the two electrodes. With the increase of the electrode pressure, the R decreases obviously, but the increase of the welding current is not significant, which can not affect the heat production caused by the decrease of R. Therefore, the strength of solder joints decreases with the increase of welding pressure. The measure is to increase the welding pressure and increase the welding current.
